A message from the Chairman
Welcome to the Website of Seamer Parish Council.
Seamer Parish Council is constituted as a local authority and first met in 1894 under the Local Government Act of that year.
The Council covers a large rural area together with Seamer Village and Crossgates near Scarborough in North Yorkshire.
The Council is here to serve all parishioners and we hope you will contact any Councillor or the clerk on issues affecting the Parish. Please see the Members|Responsibilities page of this website for individual contact details for Members of the Council and the Contact page for details of the clerk.
The Council will do what it can within its powers to assist with matters raised but does not act as a 'call centre' to forward on enquiries on matters which are the responsibility of North Yorkshire Council, North Yorkshire Police or any other public authority - see below.
Our Publication Scheme (Freedom of Information - Guide to Information), along with our Code of Conduct & Standing Orders, Terms of Reference and other Policies & Procedures are available on the Documents page of this website.
For matters which are the responsibility of North Yorkshire Council see Home | North Yorkshire Council, register, complete and send a simple request form direct to the local team at North Yorkshire Council Self Service Requests or telephone 0300 131 2131 or more quickly locally 01723 23 23 23 or:
- Highways area3.whitby@northyorks.gov.uk
- Planning planning.services.sca@northyorks.gov.uk
Similarly non-emergency reports should be made directly to North Yorkshire Police by e-mail on their 101 Occurrence E-mail Reporting Form at the bottom of the Police|Trading Standards page of this website or by telephone on 101. The Police’s advice is to report anti-social and offending behaviour promptly directly to them, with images if possible and safe to do so, and with as much detail as possible to increase the likelihood of identifying and dealing with those responsible.

The temporary change in the law which allowed meetings of the Council to be held virtually ended on 6 May 2021, so all formal 'decision making' meetings must be held in person, as well as in public.
Annual Parish Meeting (Assembly)
The Parish Meeting of the electors of the Council's area is required to assemble annually between 1 March and 1 June, and is usually held in late April or early May prior to the Annual Meeting of the Council. Please see the Council Meetings and Parish Meeting (Assembly) pages of this website for further details.
Meetings of the Council
Our annual and ordinary meetings are usually held on the second Tuesday of each month, alternately at Seamer & Irton War Memorial Hall, Main Street, Seamer, Scarborough, YO12 4QD and Crossgates Community Centre, Curlew Drive, Crossgates, Scarborough, YO12 4TP, starting at 7.00 p.m. Please see the Council Meetings and Agendas & Reports pages of this website for further details.
Carol Service
The Council's Carol Service will this year be held at 7.00pm on Tuesday 17 December 2024 at Seamer & Irton War Memorial Hall.
Parishioners are warmly invited to attend all of the above.
Councillor Lynda Wallis
